Tonawanda American Little League Volunteer Info
TALL would not be possible without all the hard work the volunteers have done over the years. Everything that happens at TALL is the result of parents and family members just like you that volunteer countless hours to make this league what it is today. We are here to make sure our children have the best little league experience possible. Our love for our kids combined with our love for the game of baseball is the foundation of the league. Our goal is to enrich our children’s lives through play, teamwork, and positive reinforcement. TALL is a community of devoted parents and family members. We are all in this together. There are so many opportunities to volunteer and pitch in. Every little bit helps. The continued success of this league, which has been running for over 65 years, is up to us.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact any board member and inquire about the opportunities available. In an effort to increase volunteer participation we collect a volunteer fee at registration. If you meet the volunteer requirements throughout the season you will receive this volunteer fee back either to the account, you paid with or via check. Listed below are some of the volunteer opportunities available.
- Becoming a Board Member
- Head Coach of a team
- Assistant Coach of a team
- Team Parent
- Volunteering at the Snack Stand
- Volunteering on spring clean-up day
- Volunteering at year end winterization day
This list is not exhaustive. There will be other opportunities to earn back your volunteer fee throughout the season as well. If you decide not to volunteer the fee will be used for field maintenance and equipment repair. The money will be spent to make the kid’s experience better. However, the importance of volunteering cannot be understated. If we do not get enough volunteers for the Snack Stand there will be nights that the grill will not be available for hot dogs and hamburgers. There will also be the possibility of the Snack Stand being closed altogether for the night. The Snack Stand is such a huge part of the kid’s experience. It’s always a bummer when it can’t be open. The fun the kids have getting together after a game, socializing and having some candy or a slushy is where lifelong friends and great memories are made.
One of the biggest volunteer opportunities is coaching. Year after year we have coaching vacancies that need to be filled. If you’re not experienced, coaching can seem intimidating. We are all here to work together and support one another. It is all for the kids and even with little experience the impact you have by coaching a team is immeasurable. Just showing up and being a positive role model and positive influence is more important than having the highest baseball IQ. Coaching is a very rewarding experience and the memories you make with your children are priceless.
Please take all of this into consideration when you are deciding if you would like to volunteer. You are making a huge difference in our children’s experience. A little bit goes a long way.
Sincerely,
TALL Board of Directors
